Amy Stoner – Artist Statement

Art is the ultimate expression of the human self. Hands forming something out of nothing, thoughts beginning in the head and heart and sparking life into a creation put on display for the world to see the innermost workings of an artists' soul. These are my thoughts as I create pieces with wood, wax, paint, and paper. My work is very process-oriented - that first mark of brush or pen opens a floodgate of other ideas that pour out onto the canvas. I let my inner psyche speak to me about what it wants to say, creating varied pieces of color, texture, and line. Always colorful, always graphic, they are the best "language" I have with which to speak to the world.
